Medieval mishaps and modern mayhem ... though not at the same time.

Jaclyn Hark

This is who I am...

Every writer bio seems to start off noting how he or she has wanted to be an author from the moment he (or she) first picked up a Crayola, scribbled a blob, then made up a story about it.  I find it a strangely humbling, yet simultaneously reassuring, thing that I am not unique in this. I've wanted to be an author since always

In real life, I live in Pittsburgh with my husband and two kids — plus a tortoise and a hare. (I try to get them to race, but they're never in the mood.)

Because both my day job and my hobby keep me tied to a computer—  and I have a slightly irrational fear that my bottom may become permanently stuck in my computer chair —  I spend as much time as I can moving. I prefer hiking, running, yoga, martial arts, spin biking, and trampolining (can that be a verb?) with my kids.

I’m one of those fish-fry loving Pittsburgh Catholics and try my best to keep my mind and heart open to allow God’s voice to influence and guide my writing.

This is what I do...

To me, a good book may make you cry, but it must make you smile.

My writing spans across two worlds.  One, over seven hundred years ago in a SLIGHTLY reimagined version of England (because I maintain that there can never be TOO many fantastical ways to reimagine English folklore — and I will demand a duel of anyone who tells me I'm wrong on the matter.)

The other is in the here and now ... but with a lot more spandex.

The one thing they have in common? They refuse to take themselves too seriously. Also, both stories are in the final stages of editing and still seeking their forever homes. Perhaps I will build one for them myself.

In the meantime ... I will be releasing various short stories in each of their worlds. The first is a flash fiction  part of my House of Heroes world  which will be published by Havok in February, and I'm crazy excited about it!
