The Cleaning Lady Vs. The Foosball Table
The book
As a member of the exclusive housekeeping staff at C.A.P.E Quarters, Dee’s duties include more than just windows … try cleaning excretions of acidic slime, forgotten outerwear-panties, and husks of skin left on the war simulator/foosball table.
Honestly though, aside from her unobtainable crush on the staff mechanic, life
is good.
Then, during a little experiment, Dee gets an unexpected promotion. The laser
that’s supposed to make her appear invisible, instead alters her genetic makeup, rendering her actually translucent and able to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum. Dee trades in her apron for some spandex to become Spectrum.
With her newfound power and fame, Dee’s flying high — until realizing her
powers are being manipulated to control the brain waves of the other heroes.
Deity, a telepathic villain with out-of-control entitlement issues, has carefully
orchestrated everything. One by one, C.A.P.E heroes join Deity, touting a
“might is right” philosophy. Only Dee can cut the connection and set them free.
Dee must learn to protect and survive while accepting some hard truths about
what it really means to be a superhero.
